THE PROBLEM
To design a functional and low-cost aesthetic solution for the Ecoducts – a series of bridges that connect bio-corridors across the southern part of the Prague bypass close to the Cholupická Pheasantry.
THE SOLUTION
The bridges are constructed from pre-cast concrete sections. The parapet walls of these bridges are reinforced soil structures using the TensarTech® TW1 System. The modular blocks that form the face of the walls are linked to the Tensar geogrid reinforcement with unique high efficiency mechanical connectors. The walls have a face angle of 86° and reach a maximum height of 4.7m. The TensarTech® system enabled rapid construction of all 3 bridges.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
For the prestigous project on a main bypass of Prague’s capital city, the TensarTech® TW1 wall system was chosen as it was a cost effective and a rapid construction solution for the 3 Ecoduct structures. Major benefits which were valued by the contractor and client included its aesthetic appearance and durability, with little or no maintenance.
