THE PROBLEM
It was important to ensure the saftey of the cyclists on a busy road, by adopting a grade separated solution that blended with the natural surroundings of the Šumava National Park.
THE SOLUTION
To ensure the safety of cyclists travelling, a separate cycle lane was to be constructed on top of an earth retaining structure – a new reinforced slope was built on an existing stone wall. The new structure was 420m long and more than 3.5m high. At the crown of the slope, protective railings were installed.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The TensarTech® GreenSlope™ system is an attractive environmental friendly solution, that has blended into the local environment. By adopting a vegetated face to a retaining structure, significant savings of up to 75% were achieved over more traditional forms of construction.
